Secured by Design is an important police initiative whose intention is to check and then recommend products that have the strongest security designed-in. All Secured by Design products undergo stringent tests to make sure that they are robust enough to withstand a sustained attack from burglars trying to gain entry to a home.
Based upon the existing Britsh Standard BS7950 (Enhanced Window Security) only reputable companies who've undergone strict screening by ACPO (Association of Chief Police Officers) and whose product has passed the stringent BS 7950 testing may be registered as Secured by Design. Once registered, companies and their products are listed on the Secured by Design website.
To see just how tough the BS 7950 'burglar attacks' tests really are, we've published a shortened version of the official video taken during the tests. The tests themselves last for an hour - we've cut it down to around six minutes…
At Roseview Windows we spend a lot of time and effort pushing forward the sash window industry, with new developments and improvements to our market-leading uPVC sash window products coming through all the time.
Once again we've seen our research and experience pay off as we've achieved the official police security initiative Secured by Design (BS7950) status across our range of uPVC sash windows. Already the first fabricator in the UK to gain Secured by Design (SBD) status on Eurocell vertical sliders, we've now added certification on our prestigious Rehau Heritage vertical sliders as well.
As the UK's leading sash window manufacturer, our customers expect us to push the vertical slider market forward. To date no Eurocell mannufacturer has successfully had their window tested, and only a small handful of Rehau manufacturers have managed it.
More importantly, at 1400x2000mm we've had large-sized windows tested, meaning that our certificate covers all windows we make up to and including that size. We're aware that several of our Rehau competitors have had smaller - sometimes much smaller - windows tested. In those cases any window they produce that's larger than the test size is not covered by their certificate.
